About

Having studied at The Chelsea School Art - and with a background in Art and Design - Nic discovered his passion for photography over a decade ago after moving to the Sussex coast. "Being so close to the South Downs and the sea inspired me to try to capture some of the beauty that fills every season. I'm endlessly fascinated by the pattens and textures of nature and natural forms; from the ever changing colours of the sky over the sea on a winters day, to the intricate patterns that can be seen when photographing nature in close up". The Nic Miller collection includes more than photography - in his studio near the coast he has also been able to combine his skills as an artist and illustrator with his photographic experience.

"I tend to look at all of nature with an 'artist's eye' taking in every detail - and I do tend to spend a lot of my time painting and sketching nature when I'm not behind the camera". This skill of connecting art and photography can be seen in the 'Abstract' collection of NIc's work where he has combined both these talents to produce a series of beautiful botanical pattens and abstract images. Nic's latest 'obsession' is photographing and painting trees, "I love the bare structures and silhouettes of branches in winter followed by fanfare of fresh lush green in the spring, and I'm continually trying to capture these amazing natural structures from a new angle - this might of course involve climbing a few trees with my camera in hand - but then that won't be the first time!".
